no floppy detected

Help please my boot screen says there is no floppy detected. I have a usb external thats working. Also windows will not load it says I have a hardware or software problem and can't continue. I can't get it to start it in safe mode to find the problem. I also have been getting a no 80 cable on ide channel connected message, could this be the hangup? Thanks.

What kind of computer is this? Home built or name brand?

How old is this computer?

What are the complete system specs for this computer? List the parts by brand and model including the power supply.

What operating system are you using?

windows won't load

thanks for the response. amd 3.8 dual core processor, 400 watt power, 2 gigs of corsair 800, western digital sata drive. its a new build. I think it may be a bad board with a corrupt bios because i've upgraded it and it says it was successfu but then it has the same checksum error when it boots. windows loads setup but won't start. Ran a mem check and passed.

Try clearing the CMOS after doing a BIOS upgrade.

You told us the psu was 400w, but didn't give the make and model #.

I would be keen to know them.

Well it looks like its the cmos battery. Its a brand new biostar board..you get what you pay for I guess. I picked up the power supply at compusa. Even on a budget its best not to go cheap. Lesson learned. Thanks.
