8800gtx
so when i type in 8800GTX at newegg, why are there like 20 different types of the same card. Are they at different speeds, and is it worth spending another $50 on the same card. if it's faster? Or should i just go with the cheapest one they have? Thanx for the help.

It depends on what you use it for, gaming, rendering, video editing, etc.
I would narrow it down to a reliable company. The company that I recommend to go with is EVGA. This selection narrows it down to 3 different types as seen here. EVGA has Lifetime warranty on the cards and have a good reputation for superb quality, reliability and customer service. For gaming? In my opinion there is no need to go for the most expensive model. The normal 8800GTX running at 575mhz is more than enough in today's standards. If you must go with the best of the best and money is no object then go ahead an shell out $150 more for a higher performing card that will not be GREATLY noticed in today's world. It maybe noticable down the road in due time, when there is a higher demand for a card of that performance, but by then the card will be $400 cheaper and there will be better ones out there. |

I concur. eVGA is quite reliable.
The regular 8800GTX can handle any game out there right now, so paying any more is silly.

I say go for the CHEAPEST one...you have to remember...EVERY SINGLE CARD comes off of the NVidia line...(manufacturing plant)...so every card is exact!!! By the way...have you considered a GTS? An oc'ed 320MB is the fastest you can buy other than the GTX/Ultra
