Stupid Question on New Build

If a CPU doesn't work, will the computer still turn on? I accidentally dripped a drop of sweat onto the top part of the CPU. It was stupid a mistake that happened to me when I was cleaning some thermal compound off of it. However, I installed the CPU and the computer still powered on. I don't know if there were any errors on it because I still don't have a video card so it wasn't plugged into a monitor.

The system will not POST without a working CPU. However, your sweat bead should not be an issue at all. Wipe it off if you haven't already, and go ahead with the installation. It will be fine.

To minimize the risk of damage to your system you really shouldn't try to power it up until you have all the necessary parts to get POST.

Yeah I know I shouldn't be powering up but after waiting and working on it for so long I just couldn't wait to see if it would work. It's my first build and it was so exciting to see that thing power up even if it wasn't connected to a monitor yet.

The important thing to learn from this incident is not to sweat while building your computer

Yeah lol I was trying not to but my room was so hot and I couldn't wait to get everything built up. But yeah I definitely learned a lot from this build and learned about things I could do better next time I build another system.

No not yet. I just need a video card and the Vista disk and that would complete it. I just have to wait for some funds though lol.
