First Build, e6600 or e6750, other questions
I've decided to build my own rig. I've been weighing my options and reading other threads. I'm not a big gamer, but do some. I will be using my computer mostly for internet, some gaming - mostly older games, and for burning and listening to music and video. I just want a killer computer that's more than what I need. I'd like to keep the price around $1000 - $1200 w/ monitor. Speakers don't have to be included, but I think I will spend another $150 or so on some Klipsch Pro media 2.1 speakers.
I'm going with newegg.com for just about every part except for the psu and the cpu. I've been planning on going with an E6600 CPU. The E6600 Is down to $179 right now on another site. The E7650 is going for $209. Should I go with the E6750 or stick with the E6600. I don't plan on over clocking, will the supply heatsink/fan be enough or should i spring for a $50 Zalman? Here's my list, any advice would be appreciated. Welcome to PCMech. Your list is very good, you've done your homework.
I'd stick with the E6750 if you can. It is a great bang for the buck right now. The included heatsink/fan will be plenty adequate. My only suggestion is to pay a tad more for that Corsair 520HX from a reputable dealer. ZipZoomFly has it for $95 after rebate. Buy.com doesn't have a great reputation: http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Buy
