Power supplys

Hi Gang

Say you have a good 400w power supply, and it has a 20 pin connector, and the MOBO you want to use it on has a 24 pin connection. Is there a way of doing this.? Like a adapter piece.? Or is it even advisable to do this. Or just get a power supply that has the 24 pin connector.?

Thanx........Gunny

You CAN get adaptors that convert 20 pins to 24 pins, though I'd normally not advise using one. ATX 2 compliance is more than just the pins, it's the number of amps on the rails inside the unit, and obviously, using a converter doesn't alter these.

What is the exact model of your 400w, and what are the specs of the system you want to install it in?

'fraid thats a resounding 'no' on principle then....aspire units are NOT good quality. Definitely suggest you go for a quality ATX2 unit....exactly what wattage would depend on your video card.
