I am having the exact same problem. Except my computer worked for about 48 hours before this started happening.

Here are my specs.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40GHz
Gigabyte P35-DS3R
OCZ Platinum DDR2-800
Stock intel Heat Sink and fan

Have you had any luck?

I've stripped my computer down to the motherboard, CPU, heat sink, 1 stick of ram, PSU, and video card. I tried a backup PSU, video card, and ram and got the exact same. I tried removing the heat sink and re-seating just in case, no good. My CPU fan takes 2 to 3 seconds to turn on but finally does just before the computer turns off again. I guess it's down to a bad motherboard or CPU?

Any other ideas before I try RMAing my MB?

Mike

My guess is the I'm guessing my motherboard just decided to suddenly die on me or something?

As Cricket hinted to, it could be the Power Supply. It can cause a lot of wonky problems. How long have you had it?

Recently in fact my computer was acting funny, it would restart itself, it would overheat extremely fast, it would even shut itself off, not power down, just 'poof' turned itself off. One day my computer would not turn on. I was worrying about everything except the PSU and as it turned out...the whole problem was the PSU all along.

The PSU is 2 days old. It's an Antec True Power Trio. PSU was my first thought too. So I tried my old no name PSU that has worked in my old computer for years without a problem and there was no difference in behaviour.

I found this thread over on Toms Hardware which gave me hope but in the end it didn't help me.
