Is buying this How-To-Build-A-PC DVD Worth It?

I foudn thing while googling for another guide to read in the meantime. (I can't order my new parts until thursday) and found this...

http://www.learntobuildcomputers.com

Its $20 to download, which isn't bad, and I thought it'd be ALOT easier on me on my first build to watch this video instead of reading a guide, because I"ll be able to see exactly how things go together.

Do you guys think it'd be worth it? Or neccesary? Theres a sample clip on the home page. I'd be willing to spend the extra 20 buckson it if you guysthink it'd help me.

If you don't have an experienced builder available to assist you with your first build then a DVD or video showing you how everything goes together would be the next best thing.

Only you can decide if spending another $20 is worth it to you or not. If you're the type who needs everything spelled out for you then this video may be well worth the $20 it costs. But if you're good with your hands, have an easy time following instructions, have good mechanical aptitude and like to work things out yourself then you probably don't need it.

Assembling a computer is not hard to do. I think it becomes hard when someone tries to build one without doing their homework first (read a tutorial, get familiar with parts) or goes in with pre-conceived notions of what goes where and doesn't seek assistance when they run into fit problems...they make it fit.

What about youtube? I'm pretty sure theres plenty of free videos of people showing you how to do such things. Just my $0.2

But like whats said above, if you feel that this DVD is what will help you understand then go for it. You can never be too careful.

Just check youtube. There is one on there but everything on it is outdated, still using AGP Video Cards, and it doesn't go into much detail. I'll just buy one of the above ones.

Not sure, but I don't think it would take them long to get it out to you. No longer than it will take to get your parts, anyway...

Oh ok well it was worth a shot then. I remember when I was preparing for my first build, I looked everywhere but somehow and somewhere I seen some videos but not many. Thanks to this site I saved alot of money and learned alot more.

I built my first computer in 1997 with no help from anyone and it still booted up and POSTed first try...and I had almost no idea of what I was doing...even used a case with a DEER power supply! After that I was hooked.

i found installing the CPU the easy bit, the HSF was a bit tricky as you have to push hard yet afraid of damaging board! just read manual with MB and processor and you shouldnt have probs

for sure thanks. I'm gunna just go through each manual before i touch the part. So if im going to be using the mobo, ill read the manual first. Then when i go to use the cpu, ill read the manual. you can never be to cautious =D
