New Build Problems Help!
Ok, Well I got everything together and plug up the monitor and turn the computer on. The machine turns on fine all the fans/lights come on and I can hear the hard drive spinning. I have verfied the monitor and cable works on another computer. I swapped video cards with another computer, still nothing. I have unplugged everything from the system ,but the bare bones and tried it still nothing. I have tired the video card in another pci slot, dosent work. I have tried moving the memory to a diffrent slot with no luck. I ordered another stick of memory ,being that the memory I got wasent on the prefered list for my motherboard. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Im guessing its either the ram, cpu, or motherboard not working correctly. Also, when I start the computer I get one beep, so im assuming the bios is working?

Welcome to PCMech!
First, I would replace that powersupply immediately. Apevia units are junk, and even if it's not what's causing your present problem (which it may very well be) they're prone to dying and taking out other components when they go. Here's a good/bad ranking of powersupplies: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=131195 Here's a troubleshooter for new builds that don't turn on properly: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=132409

Thanks for the reply, I went through the troubleshoot guide and sure enough it worked. My motherboard is getting shorted somewhere. I just ordered some plastic stand off's instead of the brass ones it was supplied with. I plan on upgrading the power supply shortly to a bigger one so thats not a worry. Thanks alot for the help, this seems like a really good forum

The brass ones, when installed correctly, will not cause a short. You should only be installing them where there is a corresponding hole for a screw on the motherboard, nowhere else. Also check, if your case has a motherboard 'tray', that the edges are not touching the motherboard at all.

They are installed correctly, a few of them came preinstalled also. I put 9 of them in exactly as the motherboard manual says to do. I reinstalled it with just 2 of them and it gives me the no signal display. I dunno what else to do ,but use plastic ones
