Need Help on Airflow
Alright, tomorrow I'm building my first PC. The only thing I'm not too sure with is which way I should face each fan. I'm using this case.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119103 I also ordered this CPU cooler. It lets me install two 120mm fans on it to make my temps even cooler. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ster%2bGeminII I ordered 4 120mm fans. Two for the cooler, and two more for the case. So that's going to be 6 fans total. (Including the ones already in the case.) Now I only need some confirmation on which direction I stall the fans. If the way I'm setting up the fans is going to "constrict" (or whatever it's called) the airflow. The default fans are in the front intaking air (120mm) and the back pulls out air. (120mm) The ones I'm installing go like this. I'm installing one 120mm on the rear left of the case intaking air. (On the fan bracket included with the case) There's going to be a 120mm fan on the top of the case pulling air out. The only problem I have is I don't know which way to face the fans on the CPU cooler. Should I face them where they blow air onto the Cooler and cool the motherboard components? (Cooler Master claims it cools onboard components) Or should I make it pull air off the cooler? (I think that's what it'll do) Here's a video of someone using the same cooler as me. I think he made it pull air off the cooler. http://youtube.com/watch?v=XBRD_YpaAUU |

Just curious, but any special reason you want all that fan power?
The fans on the cooler should blow down, toward the CPU. That helps cool the unit and the nearby chipset and memory. Yes, front fans should draw aire in, and rear fans should draw aire out as should top fans. |

Since it's a big case, I wanted to get some air moving faster. So at first I chose to install an additional two fans. The case fans of course. Then I saw the CPU cooler. I had to get it. (Get's temps down to 31 C idle without fans) And the whole adding fans on it was just something I chose to do. It's only optional, but heck, anything to keep my CPU cooler.
