First time build No video on startup!
I just recently built my own desktop and cant figure out why i have no video.
I have: Intel Dg965 Mother Board Sapphire X1650pro Graphics card Intel Core @ Do e6850 Conroe 3.0Processor Patriot 800mhz 2x1gb Memory Antec 650 Trio Power Supply Western Didital Raptor 150Gb 10,000rpm I started it for the first time with it hooked up to my TV useing a s-video cable. I know that it works because i have used it on my old computer. All the fans turned on the roms came on and the green light on the mother board lite up. But no video so i tried it on a 2 year old dell monitor and it did the same thing. All that happened with the monitor was the amber light stayed on. I dried disconnecting everything but the mother board, processor and one stick of memory and it did the same thing. I don't know what else to try. Thanks alot! |

I would suggest checking to make sure everything is plugged in. One thing a lot of people miss is the 4pin connector that powers the CPU, usually located between the CPU and the rear I/O panel. Make sure everything is seated correctly (reconnect all the power connections and reinsert any PCI / PCI Express devices). Other wise you can try this.

I think i found it!
Ok i was looking at the motherboard specs and it says i need ram with a timeing of 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 at 1.8v. The ram i have is 4-4-4 at 2.2v! So can it just be the wrong ram that makes the video not work? Also could i have messed something up by not useing the right ram??

Just to confirm, you have both the 24pin ATX power and the separate 4pin connection plugged in from the PSU?

Yup the 24 pin is in and the 4 pin is plugged in. The processer fan comes on as well as the fan on the video card.

I would say the problem is that your using a 1333MHz FSB processor on a 1066MHz FSB motherboard, that would mean nothing would start up. I dont know how people can overlook this sometimes.
