Would the budget cover the monitor/keyboard/mouse/OS? Or is it just for the case and innards.
Some basic starting parts: CPU-Intel E6750 Motherboard: Asus P5K series(pick one with the features you want) Ram: 2gigs of Corsair XMS DDR2 800 Video card: 8800 GTS or GTX depending on the cost of other stuff Case: find one that you like PSU: Corsair HX 520 or 640 depending on the video card HD: Seagate 7200.10 SATA

The Nvidia 8800 video cards are DX10. If you want DX10, then you need to go to Windows Vista(at least Vista Home Premium)

Yes you will be able to play DX10 games if you get a 8800 series graphics card. The parts he mentioned look good for a build in your price range. I would say look around at some other stuff though, post here and we can help you decide. Good Luck with the build.
Edit: Right, you will need vista for DX10 support. |

I'm a big fan of the Cooler Master cases for about $50. Good solid quality, usually tool-less design and you won't find something as well built for any less. Just a thought on some savings.
Any reason you need a 500gb HDD? You can pick up a 250 for about $65 which will hold all the games you need and then some. Unless you have a fairly large iTunes archive, you'll prolly be ok with a lesser HD. ABIT IP35 Pro LGA 775 Intel P35 Mobo has gotten rave reviews by the way. $185 puts it a bit cheaper than the Asus too. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813127030 And I would definately go with one of the Corsair PSUs, as they have good amps on their rails and are made by the same company that supplies Antec I believe. Good luck with everything.
