Very Fast PC

I would like to build a very fast PC not for gaming but for (graphices, Cad, photoes broadband,) using Vista Premiun what would be the best requirements for this PC design

for that kind of work i think you are looking for the following:

motherboard: Asus P5k
processor: intel quad core Q6600 (quad core great for CAD and photoshop and multitasking).
ram: 2gb corsair value select 667mhz
hard drive: seagate 7200.10 320GB HD (need space for files and projects)
DVD drive: Liteon retail SATA model (with burning software).
Grpahics card: for this kind of work and not games i would think probably best with an ATI card, probably pretty decent one for graphics work depending on size of your monitor.
case is personal choice and not sure what extras you need.

hopefully the above is in your budget if not you can hopefully do what you want on a slightly cheaper set up but nto as good.

What kind of budget are you working with? And will that have to cover the monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers and Vista Premium?

To get back on track, Perkster's general recommendations is a good place to start. If it is high or low in the budget then post back and people can recommned less or more. The recommneded build is a good mix of price and value.

As to video cards I am more familiar with gaming cards, I think there are better and cheeper options if you main goal is not gamiing. So dont get in too big a hurry and someone will come along and give you some good cad/photo/graphic suggestions.

i recommend the nvidia quadro fx line of cards - my day jobs machine runs a quadro fx1400, its not bad at all in terms of price/performance. there are definitely more high end ones that will break the bank but would work well with a dual quad core xeon processor for instance

I only require the tower I am looking around $ 800 AU will, this get me the above mentioned system.

That comes out to $942AUD. You can save a bit with a lower end CPU such as the E2160 at $125 or E2140 at $99. Then when you save up a bit, upgrade to a higher chip like the Q6600.
