Just finished putting new PC together...problem. :(
Hello.
I'm a first time builder and a first time poster. I just finished putting together my PC, trying to do everything right and follow the instructions. I tried to turn it on for the first time and this is what happens: It turns on (fans turn on, hard drive sounds like its turning on) for about a second but before it even has a chance to do anything it immediately restarts and just keeps on doing that. What could be the problem? I hope it's not a hardware problem. Any advice on what I should try would be greatly appreciated. Here is my hardware: XFX PVT84JUDD3 GeForce 8600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card - Retail SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD403LJ 400GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6750 - Retail Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound - OEM Microsoft Windows Vista 32-Bit Ultimate for System Builders Single Pack DVD - OEM XFX DX10 Game - Retail SAMSUNG 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-203B - OEM Microsoft 63A-00001 OEM Black 5 Buttons Tilt Wheel USB RF Wireless Laser Mouse 5000 - OEM GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI ATX12V 700W Power Supply - Retail Creative Sound Blaster SB0570 Audigy SE 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card - OEM G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ - Retail Antec Performance One P180B Black 0.8mm cold rolled steel for durability through the majority of chassis 1.0mm cold rolled steel around the 4 x HDD area ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail |

ok...so it seems to work now?
the next step would be to place the mb back in the case and just add the parts that are connected now. if that still workds, then added things one piece at a time. |

Everything is working perfectly now! Could it have been caused by a screw on the motherboard? Because I think there was a screw lying on the motherboard.
