Revised First Build (AMD)
Revised to use AMD CPU/mobo, more reasonable PSU (last one was overpowered), better GFX card, half the RAM (turns out 4gb was overkill
).Here is the new one: http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/...Number=4835514 Vs the old one: http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/...Number=4833414 Tell me what you think! Also, do you have an estimate on how long a/this build should take to assemble? I'm taking crap from my parents about not having enough time to do this (school is starting, and sports season). Thanks, ~nog_lorp |

When I built my system I just waited till all the parts arrived and then assembled. Might take a couple hours if you're a novice. Most of the time will be spent unpacking everything and then setting up all the periphials. For me, plugging all the hardware into the case didn't really take all that long.
Or maybe I'm just remembering all the good parts... like having a baby (or so I hear). It hurts like the dickens, but wait long enough, and you want to have another.

FYI (not trying to play moderator) your goign to get "yelled" at for creating a new thread...just keep your stuff in one thread, just make another reply in the thread with an updated list.
Go with the eVga GeForce 8600GT over the PNY. eVga is much better quality. Also, I'd go with Corsair over GSkill Memory. GSkill is still good, but Corsair seems to be better liked overall. I don't know if Maxtor makes good hard drives, I've never even heard of them, but I'd still recommend anyone a Western Digital or Seagate hard drive. for the optical drive, you can save some money and go with this Liteon, which has all the features in one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106072
