PC Build
I know this is like beating a dead horse, but I'm at my wits end. I am building a computer for a friend. I've put everything together exactly the way it should(to my knowledge) and cannot get a signal to the monitor. At first i thought it was the MB so i sent it back to newegg and got a replacement, after replacing the MB, i still couldnt get a signal. The MB i bought came as a MB vid card combo. Then I come up with the idea that the CPU is bad, so I go to a local store and buy a MB/CPU combo. I get everything set up and I'm getting almost the same thing. The first time I got a floating box on the monitor that had something to do with the monitor set-up, like what happens when there isnt anything hooked up to it. This time I'm getting just a black screen. Here is my setup:
ECS 945GZT-M motherboard Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 LGA775 2.20 GHz, 2MB L2 cache 800 MHz FSB Corsair HX520w Power Supply eGeForce 7200 GS vid card LG dvd burner PNY DDR2 PC2-5300 Seagate Barracuda 250GB 7200RPM SATA 3.0 Gb/s I think that is everything....thanks in advance |

Check out the CPU support:
http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Sup...uID=69&LanID=9 That motherboard does not support that particular CPU. ECS isn't top quality brand so it's not surprising the CPU support is very limited. Interesting thing is it only supports a few Core 2 Duo CPU's even though it's advertised as a C2D motherboard. I'd start looking at a different board, such as an ASUS, with a newer chipset. The 945 is outdated (part of the reason C2D's are hardly supported).
