Having trouble POSTing.
I'm building a new computer for my friend and I am having some trouble. First, I started off using HAL9000's steps to re-building it outside the case, and when I got to step "5) Install the video card and attach the power supply connection to the card if your card needs one." I get the problem. It starts beeping continuously, so I go to this site to check what the beep code is. It is repeating (endless loop) of pure beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. But I don't think it is the memory, because when I just have the processor and memory in, it gives me 1 long beep and 3 short beeps, which is no vid card. But when I put the vid card in, the beep happens. Any suggestions? I'm getting frustrated..
Specs: Antec 650w PSU Intel C2D E6600 8800GTS 640MB ASUS P5N-E Mobo CORSAIR XMS2 2GB DDR2 800 Memory |

Try another video card as this error beep code means either memory or video card problem. The memory seems fine so that leaves the video card.
BTW did you securely connect the 6-pin pci-e power connector to the card. These cards don't like no psu connection.

![]() I'm going to retry and look over all the connections, and if not I guess I'll have to return the card. |

Did you have the power supply plugged into the wall outlet and the motherboad while you instaledl the parts? I hope not.
Those beeps could indicate a problem with the RAM on the video card. What brand is the 8800GTS? Cricket

OK I figured out the beeping problem and all that jazz, I get it to POST, then it says "Disk Boot Failrure. Please insert system disk and press enter." I insert my Vista upgrade CD (full version of XP is on the primary IDE HDD from my old machine) and press enter and it still does nothing. I hate computers sometimes..

Go into the BIOS and make sure that the CD Drive is set to the first boot device.
