Palit 8600GT and Gigabyte P35-S3 please help???
hi all
I recently bought a Palit 8600Gt and and Gigabyte P35-S3 motherbaord but I do not seem to get this to work. I am quite confident that I connected everything corectly but when I start the computer error beeps are comming from the front panel, but not on a consistent basis. Its one constant long beep I was able to observe and the troubleshoot manual suggest that it got to do with the grafic card. The strange thing is that I am able to get everything to work for a while an hour or two and beep does not come up!!!??? I left the tower open to see what happens when the beep sound comes up again and it was the CPU fan that actually stopped!??? The CPU fan was going quite nuts before that?? Now I got a P4 3 Ghz, a 350W Antec PSU, 2 WD IDE Hard-Drives, 1 GB DDR2 800 RAM. The motherboard monitoring actually show at times that the CPU was only ~ 24C which cannot be correct given that I had never seen my CPU on the old board below 35C. In addition to this the motherboard monitoring software also said that the PSU stopped spinning but if that was the case then the everything would go of or not?? Please help!! I appreciate any help! |

What CPU cooler are you using? Yeah, a P4 won't run that cool - especially considering it's at or just above what your ambient room temp likely is.
I know some Antec PSU's have two fans - one of which will stop if it's cool enough. It'll kick in if it heats up. But CPU fans stopping isn't good. I'd check through the motherboard for auto fan control settings and disable anything that might be controlling fan speed. I'm not familiar with Gigabyte boards so I don't know what the setting might be called or be under.

I think you may want to get another power supply with at least 450 watts...350 watts is a little light for the specs in your computer.

I will try to disable any automatic CPU control on my motherboard. In regards to PSU I was just running the card, 1 HD and the CPU so that should be enough or not?
The second fan on the antec actually never went into action as the system seemed to be cool enough, but the cpu as said is going crazy in regars to the fan issue? ;( |
