First build start up...nothing

Did various troubleshooting ideas, including taking everything out. Right now I have only the cpu, heatsink/fan, and 1 stick of ram on the mobo (out of the case). When I hit power the psu fan comes on, the cpu fan twitches but doesn't actually spin, and that's it. Anyone have any suggestions/ideas? |

Besides the 24 pin mobo connector, did you also connect the 4 pin (2x2) connector by the cpu? Nearly all mobo's are using this connector now. Try removing both sticks of ram, have a case speaker connected to the mobo front panel speaker connection and see if you get a series of beeps when you attempt to power up. Actually, the most common problem with the LGA 775 builds is improper installation of the cpu heatsink. Look at the bottom of your mobo and make sure the 4 pins all protrude thru the mobo.

Thanks for the quick reply
![]() When I have the 2x2 power connector plugged in, it won't start at all. The heatsink/fan looks like its in correctly. I plugged in my video card and it's fan powers up, but there's no display on the monitor. No beeps either. |
