It is up and running but a few Bugs!
Hello all,
Never got back to say thank you all for help with building my new computer (see signature). I really appreciate all the time all of you spent explaining and helping with the build. Computer is up and running as of about a week ago and the build went great. I think I got the computer up and running in about 2 hours but spent another 6 on wire management.I am still working to solve a few bugs but the system is running fantastic. One bug I have found is that if you let the system go into hibernation then the video card kind of flakes out and sends no signal to the monitor. From what I hear this is a known problem and I just today found this post on Nvidia’s web site so hopefully I will get that fixed tonight. http://www.nvidia.com/object/windows..._hotfixes.html OK, this is an edit because that last explanation sucked. The case audio jacks are wired to what I think is called from reading an “Intel Standard” plug. The case instructions go on to explain that if the MB is non-Intel standard then you must plug in the wires one at a time. The P5K has a socket in the lower left corner that matched the audio jacks plug so I just plugged it in. However, they don’t seem to work. The software loaded up to make the onboard sound function explains gives you the option to have the headphone connection either turn off the rear connectors or play simultaneously. I chose the latter but still when I plug headphones in it still does not recognize them being there. So, for now I am just running a splitter off the back jack for the headphones but I would really like to get them to work. Now, the one thing I have not done is changed the settings in the bios. From reading the MoBo manual, it appears that they are pre-set to HD Audio but you have the option of changing it to AC’97. Does anyone know if standard 3.5 mm jacks are AC’97? The earlier comment about turning off back sound was based on my first attempt, now I have it plugged in and back sound is fine. Further I could not find any information about jumpers in the MoBo manual so I assume that advice was for an older style of mother board. Kat
