Trouble on my first built PC

So I built this computer and installed all the hardware corectly, or I think I did because the computer will atleast come on. But, after it starts to boot up it says "Verifying DMI Pool Data. . ." sometimes it will go one line past that and say its updated soemthing but then it stops and won't go anywhere. This is my first computer and I'll admit I don't know that much about them so I'd appreciate any help i can get.

Can you post what parts you are using?

Do you get the blue screen of death or does your computer just randomly shut off?

I m using a Gigabyte S-Series M61P-S3 motherboard, a Western Digital Caviar SE16 250 Gb hard drive, a Turbolink 500w ATX power PSU, Corsiar RAM, a Lite-On dvd burner, and an AMD Athalon 64x2 cpu.

I don't get a blue screen, it goes to a black screen with white letters with like stats and stuff on it, then it stays there, usually with the words "Verifying DMI Pool Data. . ." at the bottom of the screen.

Might not be the problem, but you really should replace that TurboLink power supply...they're rubbish.

Do you have an OS installed on the hard drive yet?

Try resetting the bios to defaults either by the jumper on the motherboard or taking out the battery for 30 mins.
