change the lite on drive to one with a sata connection.

and get a newer hdd. the 7200.10 series.

also, what is your budget, and what is the computer going to be used for?

Also I have never heard of GeIL as a make of RAM, I would go with a more reputable brand such as Corsair or OCZ.

It'll be used for gaming, mostly. My budget is around $1000. Also, I've already got the Lite-On drive. Will it not work, or just not work as well?

It will work if you stick with the AMD based system - AM2 boards still have decent IDE controllers, it's the newer Intel-based boards that are switching over to third party controllers.

You could save some cash with the M2N-E motherboard - SLI is nothing more than a gimmick for all but the builders with the biggest budgets.

GEIL RAM is decent enough, but I too would switch to Corsair XMS for quality reasons.

As nice as the Lian-Li cases are, if you're working to a budget, I'd go with a cheaper case from a manufacturer like Coolermaster, and use the money saved to upgrade to a 8800GTS video card. You'll notice the difference in gaming performance.

Thinking about it - going for the Antec Sonata III case might save you even more, overall. It's the same price as the Lian-Li you picked out, but comes bundled with a quality 500w power supply

Finally, I second the suggestion for the 7200.10 series hard drive.

Gotcha. I have the case already, so no changing that. Also, I plan to keep upgrading it, so I'll start with an 8600.
