Buliding my dream PC for music production and some gaming
Hello PC gurus!
I've been lurking this board for the past 2 weeks reading different posts. Now I'm ready to build my first pc, unfortunately system I have is 5 years old it's P4 2.6ghz Matrix VPR that was sold by Bet Buy lng time ago. It's been very stable so far but I've reached to it's limits and really start getting tired of latencies in sound recording and once song bulds up it's barely operating. Now from my own research on many musician boards I've read that ASIO4ALL is still not released for 64 bit OS, thats why I've purchased FUll version of Vista Ultimate 32-64 bit DVD set. I'm sure my main sequencing software will install on 32 bit Vista as well as E-MU 1820m for sound processing, hope that most of my VST Plugins will do as well. So as soon as ASIO will get their 64 bit support I'll reinstall Vista 64 on my future PC. Please take a look at my list of parts I've picked and make suggestions if there is anything needs to be changed. 1) MOBO I've decided to go with Intell board since some here mentioned that it's a stable MOBO and I'm not planning to overclock by any means, again it'll be my music production comp Intel BOXDP35DPM LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail 2) PCU I've wanted to try quad core so q6600 seem like a good deal to me Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80562Q6600 - Retail 3)PSU I went with CORSAIR CMPSU-520HX ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 520W Power Supply - Retail 4)Ram G.SKILL 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop - reasonably priced actualy cheapest one not sure if it's a good ram. also picked ram cooler by Corsair with 3 small fans CORSAIR CMXAF1 Fans - Retail 5) CD/DVD picked LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD Burner With 12X DVD-RAM Write Black SATA Model LH-20A1S - Retail 6)HDD Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS (Perpendicular Recording Technology) 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM later will get an external 500GB or so for back up 7)PC case I went with server rack type since it'll be in my rack along with other rack synths and I thought it has good air flow NORCO RPC-810 Black Steel 4U Rackmount Chassis - Retail. Also planning on using some of the sound deadener material on side walls bottom and top if it's too noisy. Since it uses 2 120mm fans I went with 2 NFS1212 Noctua NF-S12 120mm 1200 RPM Quiet Computer Fan 8) For video card VGA I'm thinking to go either 8800 GTS or maybe find one Ultra on ebay, for now I can use the old one I got in my current pc that uses PCI slot and has dual screen capability. 9) NEC Black 1.44MB 3.5" External USB Floppy Drive - OEM since Intell MOBO doesnt have a plug for that 10) For OS again I've got Vista Ultimate 32-64 bit DVD Set. The rest mouse and keyboard, pair of Near Field reference studio monitors (speakers) including dual 22 inch LCD Samsung I 've got on my table already. My studio software is FL Studio 7 multithread supported, Sample Tank 2 VST, GMEDIA IMPOSCAR VST, SPECTRASONICS (Atmosphere, Trilogy, Stylus RMX). Hardware 2 midi controllers, Access Virus, Novation Supernova II, Oberheim, E-MU Ultra sampler Should I be ok with my list? Cheers and thanks in advance, Yevgeni Last edited by TPECT; 09-13-2007 at 03:15 PM. |
