How much is a good amount to spend?
Well, so far I have spent about 1 grand on my parts. There are still liek 3-4 moar bit and piece to go and that would push the tag up toat least 1.2. And that is still w/out a new monitor. New monitor would hit 1.5 liek nuthing. I think the parts are excellent and maximized my money to its full purchasing power, but that is still only one person opinion and full of bias.
I was really surprise to see how easy I could just hit 4 digits price tag in liek a blink. Nevertheless, I kind of feel uneasy about spending that much money on a tower and stuffs, excluding monitor for now. CM 690 79.99 AMD Athlon X2 5200+ Windsor 129.99 Evega 8800 GTS 500 MHz Core 1600 MHz Mem Clock 289.99 Gigabyte GA-M7SLI-S4 94.99 Muskin 580W PS ATX12V/ESP12V 97.99 Patriot ExPerf (2x1Gb) DDR2 800 (PC 6400) 101.99 XP OS OEM 89.99 WD Caviar 320Gig 16 Mb Cache SATA 3.0 79.99 Lite-On DVD-Burner 2MB Cache SATA Retail 39.99 Tax 83.32 S&H 35.12 Total: 1128.35 USD MIR -85 Final cost after 4 months 1043.35 USD Do yu think I get good value in long term for the money? This is the monitor I plan to get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824001096 . I do not know whether to order from Newegg and risk shipping damage, paranoid meh, or buy one from local Elec store, Fry. Last edited by Ahura; 09-15-2007 at 06:18 PM. |

"How much" is really subjective... and, of course, driven by one's budget. When I get asked about "how much for a build" I quote a minimum of $1,500. But then, it's not "my" budget.
My personal builds are more morphs than actual builds as I upgrade when I can, as budget allows. |

I don't quite understand this poll...what are you asking for anyway? You've already spent the money right? And now you're asking if you're getting good value for that money spent? Honestly, only you can answer that...I can look at the parts and think "nice parts selection" but it really doesn't mean much since I'm not the one who will be using the computer...you will and only you know how you'll be using it.
Whether it's a good value or not is determined by how happy you are when you're using it and if it keeps you happy for a long time. I've built computers that cost anywhere from $650 to over $3000 and every owner tells me they're very happy with their new computers...so which choice is the right one in your poll? Depends. Cricket
