New PC

Alright, New PC Coming up here are the specs.

MOBO : P5k3 Deluxe/WIFI-AP

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz

RAM : Kingston 1GB 1066MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL7 DIMM

PowerSupply: Power Supply - Thermaltake W0129RU Purepower 600W Power

HDD: 2X SEAGATE 500Gb 7200rpm 16M SATA2

DVD Drive: 2X LG GSA-H22L 18X/18X DVD-RW LIGHTSCRIBE

VideoCard: EVGA GeForce 8800 Ultra 768MB PCIe

I have 2 Questions:

Firstly regarding the VideoCard, I have looked around but I'm having a hard time finding reviews for individual cards. The reviews for the EVGA 8800 GTX were rated 5/5 gamers choice. But I have found nothing on the Ultra, Any suggestions?

Second is about the PowerSupply, did Any of you had problems with the one above?

I Heard a lot of problems with DDR3, and I was considering buying the P5KC which supports DDR2 and DDR3, But I'm not too sure right now any suggestions?

I would not worry about DDR3 at all. Its not ready for primetime. Stick with the P5K and DDR2-800.

I'd look at the Geforce 8800GTX instead of the Ultra. The performance increase with the Ultra doesn't justify the price premium.

The Thermaltake unit is ok, but I would go for this Corsair instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...orsair%2b620hx An extra 12V rail of power for a beefy system.

Hum, idk, I want to buy myself something ahead and easier for upgrades later, thats why i was considering the P5KC because it supports both, but the features on the P5k3 Deluxe is nuts.

I would not cut too many corners on the PSU, your system is going to pulling alot of power under load and I would want a quality PSU backing it up. You dont find many of those under $100.

Hum, 100$ would get me a good decent PSU and with 600W I'll have more then enough power to run the system. My concern was is any had probs with the suggested one, but i'm not paying over 120$ for a PSU.

I'd rather have this than the Thermaltake - it's Seasonic made, and only CAD$ 82 after rebate. Don't skimp on the power supply if you want to run one of the most powerful (and expensive) video cards you can buy.

I'd also seriously recommend you go for 2GB of RAM for this system, anything less and it will act as a bottleneck.

I Agree with you, but its not because its more expensive that it makes it better. That was the message I was trying to pass on. This one is less then I expected, I have seen this one in
a local computershop going for more then the original price. I will seriously consider this one

Owch, are you *really* willing to pay that much for RAM just to have the latest stuff? Obviously, I can't tell you how to spend your money - I just wanted to reinforce the point that you're paying through the nose just to achieve that. I would personally have no hesitation in going for 2GB of DDR2-800, and putting any money I save away to upgrade to 4GB in, say, 6 month's time.

Actually I could buy 4GB DDR2 for less then the 1GB DDR3. Computer shops sell 2GB DDR2 800Mhz for 120$. Thats why i was hesitating on buying the P5KC mobo. But the features on the P5K3 deluxe WIFI-AP are nuts

I bet 6-9 months from now that RAM will cost half as much and you'll be kicking yourself for spending that much.

I did a comparison of the P5K Deluxe and the P5K3 Deluxe - I couldn't see any differences (other than DDR2 vs DDR3). There really isn't much justification for moving to DDR3 at this time...

Hum I just notice that the P5k Deluxe also has the wireless LAN port and looks basically the same. I didn't know there was a P5K deluxe edition. Hum mobo is about the same price, but i would save a lot on the ram. tempting....

Your probably right, that the ram will drop to half in 6 months, heck it has already drop half from its original price
