Gaming Rig - Input Wanted
Hey all, I've finally decided on the key parts to my new PC sooo here are the specs..... i'd really apprecaite some input/advice ... thanks
CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 Socket LGA775, 3 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB, 4MB L2 Cache, 65nm (Retail Box) (BX80557E6850) (i switched from Core 2 Quad because Tom's Hardware suggests that the Core 2 Duo's are faster when overclocked. Also, they're a lot easier to overclock than the Quad) CPU COOLER - Sunbeam Tuniq Tower 120 S754 S939 S940 S478 LGA775 Heatpipe Cooler 120MM Fan CPU Heatsink (OVERCLOCKING purposes) MOTHERBOARD - Asus Striker Extreme Socket 775 nVidia nForce 680i Chipset Dual-Channel DDR2 533/667/800 Support Core 2 Duo Processor (Heard its a great board for Overclocking... even though it doesn't support 1066 DDR2 RAM it should be fine... ANY SUGGESTIONS/COMMENTS?) MEMORY - Corsair XMS2 Dominator TWIN2X2048-6400C4D 2GB 2X1GB PC6400 DDR2-800 CL 4-4-4-12 240PIN Memory Kit MONITOR - Samsung SyncMaster 226BW Black 22" Widescreen TFT-LCD, 1680 x 1050, 3000:1, 2ms, Analog, DVI-D HDCP, HDTV Ready VIDEO CARD - EVGA 8800GTX POWER SUPPLY - Corsair HX Series CMPSU-620HX 620W ATX Triple Power Supply 120MM Fan 12V 50A Continuous 24PIN ATX Modular (Note** I won't be using SLi) CASE - Antec Nine Hundred WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM (64 bit) -------------------------------------------------- Again, if you guys have any.. any suggestions or comments at all i'd apprecaite it. It's my first build so any input will be much obliged. If you have suggestions for parts please (if you dont mind) include a detailed description or even better a link. Thanks alot... |

Would suggest the E6750 CPU. You are paying $100 premium for a small increase in speed. Save the $100 and upgrade in a year or so.
Would suggest the P5K MB. It has the newest P35 chipset, supoports 1066 when it is needed, and from all reports is also a great overclocker. It does not do SLI but you dont appear to be going that direction anyways. Everything looks compatible so those are just a couple of suggestions to think about. Kat

if going 64 bit vista you might want to get 4gb ram.
