Can I use an sata and an ide hard drive together

Building a new comp and I want to use an older ide as the master and a new sata as a slave drive. I'm not sure how to do this. The old hard drive has all my stuff on it and I want to keep it intact.

asus MB p5wdg2
intel dou2 e6700
8600 gtx gforce
4 gb ram

i am using both right now.... install your master first... then when you have windows running install the other hd... i use my ide as my backup drive.... i would use yours the same way... just install windows then (make sure you install the sata drivers with windows.....) when its running access all you files on the ide hd..... you can use the ide as your master tho...

If you aren't using a 64 bit OS there's no sense getting 4GB of RAM...a 32 bit OS will only make use of 3GB of RAM.

And the P5W DG2 is an older motherboard...you sure you want to build a brand new computer with it?

The E6700 C2D is a little old too...there are newer processors available now.
