video driver

i just got all my stuff running, XP is installed and installed my chipset driver and updated windows. im putting in my graphics driver for XFX 7600 GT XXX (took drivers off of cd) and it said the compatibility was never tested for XP, on XFX it said to proceed thru this. and i did, as it started to install it eventually reset, not upon request but by itself, and when it went to reboot it was not booting properly. it was very late when this occured so i had to go to bed and revisit the problem today, but im not sure what to do.

sorry if this is more applicable to the video forums, but since it is still a new build i wasnt sure where to post it

Welcome to PCMech.

What do you mean by 'not booting properly'?

k it seems to boot and post ok, but after the windows XP loading screen goes away nothing comes up. my monitor light is still green but the screen never gets past this. before i tried to install my video drivers this did not happen as i updated windows, put chipset drivers in and some other mobo drivers. thats currently where i am at

fixed it, i guess my drivers just didnt install correctly cuz i got to start in safe mode then took off the drivers and reinstalled. also i didnt know if u hit f8 during windows loading s creen u can choose safe mode, which was pretty much what saved me alot of frustration of not knowing what to do.

Glad you got the problem fixed. On a forum note, please edit your existing posts if you have something to add. Thanks
