First Build
Hi I'm putting together a parts list for my first build. I plan on using this computer for gaming and other basic computer applications. My budget is around $1200. I have looked around at other threads and picked parts based on recommendations on them, but wanted to make sure these parts looked good. Thanks for any help.
Case: Antec Nine Hundred http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129021 PSU: Corsair 620W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139002 OR OCZ 700W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341002 Which would you recommend? CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115029 HDD: Seagate 7200.10 320GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148140 Motherboard: Asus P5K http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131180 RAM: Corsair XMS2 2GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145034 Optical Drive: Lite-On CD/DVD Burner http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106072 Video Card: EVGA 8800gts I don't know whether to get the 320MB or the 640MB. Is the extra $80 worth it to get the 640MB? OS: XP http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Pack%2b-%2bOEM Thanks again for any help. |

Welcome to PCMech. A very good list there. Stick with the Corsair PSU.
The video card memory will not make a major difference unless you're gaming at very high resolutions.

You'd never need a 700watt PSU really for that rig. I've got similar specs and am happiily going along with a 600 Watt OCZ GameXStream if thats any help, check the sig for exact specifications.

build looks good. The 8800 GTS 640 I understand is useful if you are using a large monitor with very high resolution. I use a 22" wide screen with my 320 and it works perfect.

Excellent choice on the screen. Any tuner recommendation would depend on what kind of TV signal you receive.
