I'm going to use my old keyboard, mouse, monitor, and headset as they're all fine. Anyway, I'll take suggestions, but mostly I just have questions as a computer building newbie. I checked up on stuff so I'm fairly certain it's okay, but I thought I should check with a few more sources first. Are any of these parts particularly problematic? For a complete newb, this wouldn't be that difficult of a system to put together, would it? CAN it all go together? I'm not going to run out of connections or space, or have incompatible connections or anything, will I? For someone not planning to overclock, the cooling system is fine, right (I keep my room fairly cold anyway)?

Thanks in advance!

You're links don't work.

Everything looks okay to me except the OS...any particular reason you're going with a 64 bit OS?

And I would get a DVD burner instead of just a plain DVD drive.

No, nothing stands out.

If you've put a computer together before this one won't be much different. You'll want to see this tutorial for LGA775 heatsink installation instructions.

not heard of the power supply manufacture, think youre better going with a big brand like corsair, they have a 620W PSU which is great.

You will need that 64 bit OS for your 4gig ram.

Seems you picked out an IDE DVD drive, i would personally go with the new standard SATA optical drive and as cricket said get a burner (lite-on) are very good brand.

I personally would use the ASUS p5K motherboard but the ABIT you picked is pretty good quality too.

I would also have gone for an EVGA 8800 rather than MSI

Hm. I think I copied-and-pasted the links from an email I made. Ooops.

I'll need a 64bit OS for 4GB ram, right?

I have no need for a writer. I've had a DVD burner for four years since I made my old system, and I've literally burned two CDs. In both cases, I could've used a flash drive or even software methods to get the same result. If I can save some cash by getting a non-writable drive, I will. Other than that, that drive seemed to be very good for the price, and did what I wanted it. Close to the same price as other drives, but I traded writing capability for improved reading. Admittedly, though, I don't know much about optical drives. Is there a drive with higher quality reading than this for the same price?

I've heard excellent things about the Mobo, and I like the specs and reviews. What would be some pros of picking that other one, though?

As for the video card, I did some comparison. The MSI card and the EVGA cards seemed to have identical specs, except the MSI card was about $20 cheaper and yet clocked about 75mhz higher.

I've heard very good things about the power supply, and NewEgg is currently doing a discount or a mail-in rebate, I can't remember which... Anyway, it means that the price is down quite a bit, so it looks like a great deal.

Thanks, everyone!

Yes, you need a 64bit OS to use all 4GB of RAM. A 32bit version will only see 3.2GB.

If you don't need a burner, that optical in your list is fine.

Abit used to be just as high quality as Asus but they have slipped a bit lately. Still pretty good but we always recommend Asus as our top choice. Check it out and compare the features/prices.
