Where is the product key for my OEM XP program???

Prior to my new build, I bought an OEM version of XP from a local computer store to use on my store bought computer. The product key was the number on the sticker on the side of the case, as told by the clerk.

I was told I can use the same OEM version on my new build, but what do I use as a product key???

You mean it came installed on an HP or Dell? The key's that came with that system are typically tied to the computer it came on. Sometimes the OS CD that comes with it will only install on that machine and if nothing else the key is bound to the machine in the license agreement.

Or did you buy something like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116056
the key should be somewhere with the packaging it came in

Oem

If you intend to use that copy of XP on a second computer, you will have to purchase a second product key. MS clearly states one license, one machine.

I had a problem with my HP, and I bought an OEM XP from a local computer shop. My brain was not working when I thought of using it on both machines...

Just ordered OEM Vista from them so I'll be fine...
