XP won't recognize Hard Drive
After my primary hard drive failed on me, I decided to put the slave as the primary. However, when winxp goes to setup for installation for some reason it does not recognize my hard disk. My IDE controller picks up the hard drive just fine. It is a seagate 200gb hard drive and I noticed I had no jumper pin on the back. I tried a western digital one with no results.

If you're using a 80 wire IDE cable you need a jumper on the CS (cable select) pins of the Seagate HDD. Use the one from the dead HDD. Put the Seagate on the black connector on the end of the IDE cable.
You might want to try another 80 wire IDE cable too...the 80 wire ones are more fragile than the older 40 wire IDE cables. Cricket
