Comments on proposed new build for $1,500, and need help with MB.
I am spec’ing out a new build with a budget of $1,500, sans hard drives since I already have two 320 Gb’s I will bring over from my current machine. This might be a backwards way of doing it but I always seem to pick out everything except the motherboard, because I have the most trouble choosing it, I never know which chipset to go with. Please let me know what you think of this build and which MB would work well with it, thanks.
Case: LIAN LI PC-65B http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16811112040 Power Supply: Antec NeoPower 650 Blue http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16817371010 Video Card: EVGA 640-P2-N821-AR GeForce 8800GTS 640MB http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16814130071 CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16819115017 RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (x2) http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16820145590 Optical Drive: Lite-ON http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16827106072 Right now the cost is at $1,166, and then I figure a nice MB will be another $200, which will bring me under budget at $1,366, although I may decide to add a 1TB hard drive if they come down a bit. But I was looking at this MB http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813131190 But again there are so many out there that look good, I mainly just want something that is stable, I am not looking to OC or tweak around with this machine.

We usually recommend a flavor of the Asus P5K. So you're on track.

Don't forget an OS in the budget and could get a 80 or 160 gig HD to get you started while waiting to get the monster HD. Go SATA for your HDs.

I have the OS covered, as well as monitor, KB mouse, ect. The $1,500 is the budget for just the tower itself.
