New build wont boot :(

Ok i assembled the entire PC And when i hit the on switch all the fans spin for about 2 seconds then it dies. I thought there might be a short in the case so i tried the "troubleshooter out of the case guide(http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=132409) but its still doing the same thing, sadly i don't have any other compatible components to swap out and test with so what further can i try before taking it back to the PC store?

New build consists of:
Seagate ST3250410AS SATA 250GB SATA II 300Mbps 7200rpm HDD 16Mb Cache Barracuda w/NCQ
CoolerMaster RP-550-PCAR Power Supply :EXTREME POWER 550W V2 REG
Intel E6750 Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz 4m cache 1333FSB LGA775
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3
CoolerMaster Elite 331 case
LG H62N(BLK) Sata DVD-RW
GeIL RAMDDRII021(2x1G) 2G (2X1GB) DDRII 667 (PC-5300) : Latency: CAS5

Is there any way you can swap power supplies?
That's likely where, given your description, the pc tech will start his diagnostics, with a known good power supply.

Is that a retail CPU with a intel's heatsink? Double check its mounted correctly. Also, it should have came with a thermal pad on the bottom of the heatsink, did you remove it? or add any other thermal compound?

Yea when i tryed the out of the case guide i resat the heatsink, its a brand new boxed retail CPU and yes was uding the stock heatsink with preapplied thermal paste.

To pam: sadly no i dont have another PSU to try.

Try using one RAM stick at a time. You have done just about everything, you will need to start swapping components. I would go to a local store and pick up another PSU..if it works then return the cooler master, if it still does not..then return the purchased PSU. And we can continue from there.

Make sure you have checked ALL your connections.

I just thought of something, are you sure you've got the heatsink/fan attached to the correct header on the motherboard?
That's been a problem in the past so you might double check.

Ok sorry for the late update.

It turns out that all that was wrong was i had the front power switch hooked up wrong and after playing with it for a while i got it hooked up right and all is well.
