My first buget gaming build, anygood?

I have a monitor, keyboard, speakers, and mouse already.
Should i use windows? or Ubuntu? or both?

Looks like a good build to me.

Might want to see about getting a 8800 video card though if you can budget it.

I think you'll get a better gaming system if you're using windows, but you can dual boot.

Not sure about the MB, but I'm sure someone else will be able to comment on that.

We generally recommend Asus boards here. MSI quality is not the best. And why buy an SLI board when you only have one card?

Check out the Asus P5K instead.

Good build, although I am an AMD man myself, I can respect that build. Looks like you have plenty of rebates coming your way. The SLI board is good if you plan on buying an indentical video card later on.

Look at a P35 MB like the P5K Alaron suggested. SLI with lower level vid cards just does not make sense. A single higher card will out perform to lower cards in SLI for less money. If you are set on SLI then look to the 680i chipset which is both newer and from everything I have read much better than the older 850i. But again I would recommend looking toward P35 boards and forgetting about SLI.

Glad to see you dumped the Apevia PSU. The FSP you picked should be fine for your build if you are not planning on SLI. If you do plan to SLI in the future you will need something a bit bigger even with two 8600s.

Take a look at the 320 GB HD. It is only about $10 more for another 70 GB of space. Better $/GB ratio.

As shadow posted, if you are really building it for hard core gaming try to get an 8800 GTS in the budget. The 8600 GT is a nice all around card but a bit weak for playing some of the newer games. It is about the same speed as the older 7600 series which are two to three generations back before X10 even arrived. Take a moment and check out this review:

Let us know how that ram works out. It is definately a great deal if it works but looks like it is getting mixed reviews on the boards. Corsair or Crucil might be a safer choice but right now the Gskill has an obvious price advantage.
