-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hi,

i want to build a new gaming computer.

My budget is about 600-700 (yes i'm cheap)

little paranoid about overheating so I think i might get a case that has 2 fans.

Don't know the difference between intel and amd so it doesn't really matter, but the processor should have 2 cores

I don't want a computer that can put visual settings for games at high. medium quality is fine with me

160gb hard drive. RPM doesn't matter, just not too slow

I need the computer to be fast so it doesn't get outdated in like 2 years.

I'm just building the box right now. I need a case and everything that goes into it.

Mainly just looking for a gaming computer with the best bang for your buck

Sorry for so many specifications

guru or not, i value any information given to me.

Thanks

Well if your budget is only $700 then I question whether you'll get on medium on the newer games but anyways.

Go for this as Ram, 2GB Corsair Cas 5 $50 [Cas 5 Ram works better on Intel Chipsets, Corsair is really good memory brand] : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145590

Asus P5K Motherboard $133 [Uses the P35 Chipset and Asus is a good brand] : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131180

EVGA 8600GT $110 [Is cheap and should get the job done and EVGA is good brand] : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130091

Seagate 160GB 7200.10 Sata Hard Drive [Seagate is a reliable brand] $55 : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148230

Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHZ $195 [Best Performance for the price, Intel>AMD] : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115029

LiteOn DVD/CD Burner $37 [LiteOn a really good brand for DVD/CD Drives] : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106072

Now this totals you up to $580.This gives you $120 to get a PSU and Case. You probably will go over $700 too because you are going to have to get a OS too. I'd recommend Vista Home Premium 32Bit because if your this cheap than I doubt you'll get more than 3GB of Ram.

You can choose any case that you prefer to your liking and if you get the 8600GT you should get a PSU thats around 450 watts and good PSU Brands are Corsair, SeaSonic, Fortron Source and PC Power and Cooling. I'd suggest you got for Fortron Source because it's a good brand that cheaper than the others.

Take the other members suggestions too because I've been here for a couple days and have just been collecting information.

If the link works right, then it should say that yu can get two of these for 4 bucks each http://www.svc.com/fba12g12m.html .Very nice fan and push alot of air, and not as noisy as similar 2-ball, though not complete silent as the stock.

Also, this is almost free : D http://www.svc.com/rr-cch-l9u1-gp.html

They advantages of 800 ram far out do that of 667. 667 is used by pre built computers because it's nice and cheap. I wouldn't touch 667 as its not that much cheaper than 800 and is a lot slower.

Personally I'd slip into something like a E6550 or something as your GPU isn't top of the line, whereas your getting quite a top of the line CPU. I'd personally save on the CPU and get something lower end but get a nice graphics card in your position.

At $159 for dual cores at 3.0 the AMD cpu is a good buy.
The heatsink/fan that comes with the processor works just fine so, unless you're going to over clock, it's all you need.

Are you planning on going to an sli rig?
If not you can save money by buying a single 16X pci-e slot board.

You don't have a case listed, do you have one already ?

PCMech has a list of approved power supplies : http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=131195

Get an sli approved one, it will say so in the specs when you check at newegg, if you're going with that motherboard.

Yes they're compatible.
A 450 watt power supply is adequate but if you ever upgrade you'll wish you'd left yourself a little more head room.
