Unable to Install XP

I put together a new PC with the following components:

CPU Intel Core 2 E6750
MOBO Asus P5K-E
RAM 2x1GB Corsair XMS2-6400 w/ DHX
HDD 320 GB Seagate Barracuda SATA II 7200 RPM
HDD Western Digital Raptor WD360ADFD 36GB 10,000 RPM 16MB Cache Serial ATA150
PSU Cooler Master 650W Real Power Pro RS-650
DVD-RW LG GSA-H62NK 18X SATA DVD Writer
DVD-Rom LITEON DH-16D2S-04 16X SATA DVD ROM
Graphics Card: XFX GeForce 8800GTS Video Card

I'm trying to install XP on the Raptor.

I recieve various blue screens when I try to install XP. Sometimes there is an error message, such as "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" or "RQC_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". The Stop error is STOP: 0x0000007E.

I tried updating the BIOS on the board. It seems to have no affect.

Any suggestions?

I know you probably don't want to hear this...but it is likely faulty RAM.

There are a couple of causes for that stop code, but I'm pretty sure that it usually occurs during driver updates and similar tasks. Try one RAM module at a time and see if one won't work.

Thanks,

I removed one of the modules and the install flew.

So much for tested match pairs...

Thanks for the help.

might want to try memtest when you get a chance before installing it again.

No worries. Make sure you get right on the RMA or return or whatever on that RAM.
