Server PC

I'll just throw this one out there.. Do you guys think it is worth building a server computer and using it as a regular pc? I don't think it is mainly because you most likely won't test the maximum capabilities unless you're benchmarking. But then I think it's fairly worth it because you possibly never have to deal with freeze ups and or lags. I'm in the earliest stage of contemplating whether or not to build a server pc. I probably won't end up going with it but I'd thought I would put it out there in case I ever do change my mind.

What makes you think a server doesn't suffer from freeze ups or lags?

Do you even know the differences between a server and a desktop computer? I ask this because I don't understand why you would want to build a server and use it as a desktop. If you want a powerful desktop, build a powerful desktop...don't build a server.

Basically a graphics oriented workstation is a server. Often they are using an expensive Dual Xeon Processor motherboard, with high power supply requirements, and excessive amounts of RAM to speed things up. Might want to look at the specs of an Expensive Apple Power MAC fully loaded as an example.

Hmm Dual Quad Core Xeon with 4 GIGS of RAM.

Typically this is something you might expect to see a Database or an SQL server to be on with one array for the database and then another array for the Temp SQL work files.
