Hi,
I've just put together my first new build. I powered up and all seems good. But what software should I install first?? The OS (Windows Vista 32 bit) ?? I'm really quite lost at this point... SYSTEM: ASUS P5K motherboard, ASUS 8800 GTX GPU, Hitachi Deskstar 500Gb, Intel E6850 3.0 Ghz, 2 Gb RAM, Thanks! |

That was written with XP in mind, but it can certainly apply to vista as well.

General order of software install on a new build:
1: OS 2: motherboard drivers 3: peripheral drivers/video card,sound card,etc. 4: antivirus/firewall/antispyware software 5: get internet working and get OS/antivirus/antispyware updates 6: programs that you use.
