New Comp, Same Issues
I just built this last weekend. I tried the troubleshooting listed in another thread, but even shorting it didn't help. It would turn the fans on, light up, beep, but no boot screen. After last weekend, I left it alone and didn't touch it all week. Today I tried again, and it actually gave me a boot screen. Problem was it said it was missing the NTLDR file but this is more than I had last week. Put the hard drive in my working comp, loaded a few files onto it, plugged it back into the new computer and it's back to doing the exact same thing as before-it beeps, lights up, fans turn, but no video on the screen. I reformatted another drive and plugged it in to see what would happen, but same thing-with and without an OS installed on it. The setup I have is:
SHUTTLE SS21T SIS 761GX CHIPSET AMD ATHLON 64 BARE SYSTEM AMD ATHLON 64 X2 4200+ EE - WINDSOR CORSAIR 2GB DDR2 667=(1GB x 2) HITACHI Deskstar 7K400 H3400B72S 400GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive Pioneer 18X DVD±R DVD Burner Black E-IDE/ATAPI Model DVR-112D Can anyone give me some advice on what else to try? I've checked the RAM and PSU and they work fine. For all I know, I have parts that don't work together. |

Is the motherboard in or out of the case right now?
For troubleshooting this type of problem you want the motherboard out of the case with no drives connected to it. You must see if the core components (motherboard, CPU w/heatsink, 1 stick of RAM, video card, monitor and power supply) work first and then connect the drives and other components. Follow the troubleshooting instructions found here. Cricket

Yes, it's out of the case now with one stick of RAM in it and no drives connected. I already did try the troubleshooing from the other thread though, but it got me to where I am now.
