Looks like a fine start. You're missing a video card though. I'd recommend an eVGA 8800GTS.

Looks good. I keep seeing posts by GLC recommending changing ram to C5 to avoid possible problems with intel chip set so I will throw that out. I buildt with C5 so dont personally know of any problems but since I only build about every 3-4 years I listen to those that do it daily.

That is one big HD, do you really need that much space? I think you would get a better value with something a bit smaller but you now what you need better than I.

srsly even 500 gigs is overkill on a hdd IMO, if u wanna save money u should get a smaller hdd.

this should run crysis nicely, have fun gaming

If your planning to play Crysis at medium levels on DX9 then the 8800 GTS will be ok. Anything higher than medium settings you won't get playable framerates. You'd be better off waiting for the next round of video cards this Christmas.

The rig in my signature runs the Crysis demo on high settings with decent frame rates. It slows down a little in some spots. I can only imagine that the 640MB version of my card would run it better.

That's interesting, and good to hear.

Guess we should also wait for the retail release though.

Thanks for the input guys, think I'll get the 8800GT 500mb card instead seems to be a bit better than the gts and ALOT cheaper , any1 know if the x38 chipset supports SLI. I might change to that board for the PCI-e 2.0 Lastly what is C5 RAm...?

Cas 5 is like part of the speed of the ram as for as I know.
glc tells people here that cas4 or lower will cause problems to intel chipset motherboards [Lower = Faster]. I don't know the problem but I'd just listen to him and get cas5. I think its the first digit in like [5]-5-5-12 that represents its cas latency.

I thought that to play Crysis you'd need an extremely good system but now that Hi Ho says his machine works well, you should be fine.

I'm not sure if any x38 supports SLI but anyways, SLI isn't worth the price vs performance right now, its like go ahead and buy a 2nd 8800GT for $250 but only expect a 20% increase from using a single card.

I think Intel Chipsets don't support SLI. [They do support CrossFire but Radeon isn't doing very good right now]. I'm almost positive that only Nvidia motherboards support SLI.

I don't think you should change to a X38 chipset right now, they're too expensive, your CPU wouldnt work in one because X38 uses a FSB of 1333mhz and 1600mhz. I don't even think theres such thing as a 1600mhz processor right now . I think that most X38 Chipsets only use DDR3 Ram which is very pricy right now.

Bottom line I'm trying to say is SLI isn't worth it, use a Nvidia motherboard if you are still stuck on SLI. If not spring for a P35 Chipset. Also go for Cas 5 Ram if you get a Intel Chipset Motherboard, if you get a Nvidia Motherboard, get whatever cas latency you want.

I tested the performance gain on one of my SLI rigs and found that there was a 37.5% gain. Now granted this is just the demo so the full release may be even better with optimized drivers. Also this was just with XP 32bit. I am guessing that with a vista 64bit setup you could get even better performance. All this means is that SLI is always a viable option. I didn't see a MB suggestion in your original post so I don't know which ones you were looking at. If you do opt for a SLI board then consider getting a MB with the 680i MCP Northbridge as that is the latest one out.
