trying to build > failing miserablely :P

hi guys i am trying to build a comp with a socket a prossesor and cant work out what ive done wrong. the mother board is an asus a7vl-vm and the prossesor is an amd athlon 1125 mhz. when i turn it on it starts up fine untill it gets to where it should do the boot from cd/dvd. it frezzes at this stage, its like its trying to boot but for some reason cant. i can give u any other information required and could any responces plz be givin in english cos i dont speak nerd lol :P

mobo- asus a7vl-vm
prosseso-r amd athlon axda2000dut3c
psu- liteon 188w
case- its an old hp pav 8603
hdd- maxtor 30gig
and its got a hp cd burner that i will upgrade later to dvd burner

AMD Athlons require a 300 watt power supply.

thanks for that i was just using the psu out of the hp pav and thought it would still boot up ok

hi again i just pulled the psu out of the comp i am using now to use with the asus comp and it made no differance. this psu is 400w. can anyone think of anything else? just so u know it gets up to the screen after the quick self check and it frezzes at the screen where it tells u that the different stuff( ie pci) irq is set at. just thoought id ad this info to see if it helped with analysis.

Did you reset the bios by taking out the battery for half an hour? Then you need to go into bios and load defaults then set cd as first boot device.
