Can anyone suggest a good place to shop for computer parts like a 8800GT or an Intel Core 2 Quad E6600? I usually browse Newegg and Tiger Direct but I don't want to miss a sale since I am getting a bit over my budget for a new gaming system? Idealy, I can find some % off or $ off for a part either with a coupon code or an in-store coupon. I visit Slickdeals.com regularly and sometimes something is there. I just need to know if you guys found some Shangra'la of computer shopping I do not know of?

If you have to stay around $1,000 you just gotta go with parts that aren't so bleeding edge. There are a lot of fast parts that are a generation behind that cost a lot less than the newest stuff. Do you really need a quad core processor? Probably not and if you're building a gaming rig a dual core processor will be more than enough as long as you select the right video card (more important in a gaming rig than the processor).
You can go bleeding edge if you have an unlimited budget but if you have to keep to a budget then you have to be a little more selective about your parts choice. $1,000 will build you a nice computer but it won't be a true gaming rig...true gaming rigs start at a higher price point ($1,500 and go up, up, up...). So think about what you're trying to build, get as much information as you can and be a smart shopper. Cricket
