AMD or INTEL?
Will you be building this computer yourself? Have any experience or do you need to see a tutorial? Does the $2,500 include only the box (just the computer with OS installed) or everything (monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc...) Cricket

ok umm cricket.. intel or amd.. witch ever is best for gaming / fastest i will be not overclocking or anything like that.. yes i need a tutorial i will build it myself i heard i can build a comp for that much and be very good such as.. if i spend 2,500 at alienware it wont be that good but if i spend it and build it myself.. i can get something 100x better.. yes that has to include all that stuff.. i dont want a printer tho.. just need comp / screen / speakers with that setup.. ill take care of the mouse / KB ( will pick out from personal choice )
Edit: witch Operating system is best for gaming? I tend do ALOT of gaming.. for all the upcoming games age of conan , warhammer , stargate , etc etc etc on the Highest settings possible for each without a centimeter of lag.. if thats possible.. |

You would need vista if you want highest possible settings, because of directx 10.

Vista is getting better, SP1 is not that far off and will be the standard for gaming unless something miraculous happens and Linux takes the lead (won't happen).
wildfire was right about DX10. It also will be the standard and enables a lot more eye candy in said games, and you can bet that there are a few more DX10 video cards coming down the pipe before long. Aside from that, your 2500 ought to snag you one heckuva machine!

You can tweak that list some, its just to get you started. Should ring up well under your $2500 budget.
Where are you located? For the U.S. we recommend www.newegg.com |

A lot of it will depend on other things that you are looking for. You need to do some reading on the products.
An example is the P5K. Some versions include wifi, while others don't. Some support raid, and others don't. Those are things you need to figure out whether you need/want or not. We wouldn't know that, unless you tell us. Read product specifications. Also search some of the build your own threads and you'll get an idea about some builds. There are a lot of them about gaming rigs. About the different vista versions: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=174704 It becomes a personal choice. What I might like for my computer, might not work for you. In the end, we can offer a few different suggestions for everything, but you're going to be the one that has to give the credit card information and live with the build. So put a fair amount of time into deciding, and that way you will be happy with what you have. Personally, I went with Vista HP 64. Search the Vista thread and you will see discussions about the 32 versus 64 bit as well. HTH |

One of the big things about 32 vs 64 bit is how much memory can be utilized by windows.
With the 32 bit, Windows will probably only see about 3gb (give or take), while with a 64 bit, it will see more then that. Some drivers might be a bit harder to find with the 64 bit as well, but if you have newer stuff, then it shouldn't be a problem. |

alright, you're gonna want to get AT LEAST a geforce 8800 gt like he said, but tbh, you should go higher since you have more money to spend and that one is more of a bang for the buck card. those video cards are gonna require more watts from a psu, so keep that in mind. look at the core 2 duo series, sont bother with amd for now, i hear about them running hot for high performance gaming. you can explore quad cores but they can run hot as well, but you aren't overclocking so they are definitely a good thing to consider, very future proof. look up what video card and processors others use for the game crysis, its pretty much what everyone is aiming for. make sure they are able to use the very high dx10 settings.

I would switch the MB to one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131196 or this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131180
For CPU, if you want the best available: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115026 (This is definately not worth it in my opinion, but it's your option) CPU i would consider: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115027 or this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115028 or this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115029 For the video card, I would get what you have on your list, it's the bang for the buck, and it performs great. A card that performs a slight bit better, but costs a lot more is this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130078 With that vista, just know that windows will not see all 4gb of RAM. If you want an external burner, I gues that's ok. If you want an internal one, I would get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106072 Good monitor. |

because your are going with a 32-bit OS, it will not be able to see all 4gbs, the memory cap is around 3.2GB (or so i've heard)
you will be fine with 2gb of ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145590 you will need an optical drive, instead of an externalhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106073 here is the Intel Q6600 processor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115017 you MAY need another SATA cable ( or 2), i just did a quick glance.. but everything looks good |

for speaker, keyboard, and mouse, i would go with some logitech stuff, they have a good following, are generally reliable, and make great gaming peripherals.
go on newegg and just pick out a lan and modem and some other things, and just post them up here, people will tell you if they are bad or if anything is wrong with the setup, dont be intimidated by 100 results, thats just 99 more things you can turn to if one isn't right for you. |
