New system recommendations/critique..

Hey all .. after about 5 yrs I'm ready to take the plunge into a new system and would appreciate some feedback on alternatives.
Needs: definitely not a gamer, but need a decent amount of power for using it as a DVR and for image editing (Adobe apps) on Vista. I also need something reasonably futureproofed with dual DVI connectors on video.

What I've got so far -
1. Mobo: ASUS P5E LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Intel Motherboard - $234.99
2. CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80562Q6600 - $279.99
3. RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-8500C5 - $149.99
4. Video Card: EVGA 256-P2-N751-TR GeForce 8600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card - $109.99
Total damage - $773.xx
Any alternatives? Incompatibilities?

Thanks for your feedback.

Looks like a good build.

When you do get it up, please provide a review for that MB. It looks like a beast.

I wouldn't do a X38 yet - save some cash and get a P5K. You don't need 1066 speed ram, DDR2-800 is plenty.

Thanks for the feedback. I thought of going the X38 route because I figured it would be better future proofed (~$100 more for a newer chipset for a build over 5 yrs seemed a good option).

The only reason to get a X38 is if you plan on using PCI-E 2.0 and DDR3 ram. Being that you are not a hardcore gamer, and being that DDR3 is frightfully expensive, it just isn't worth it in my opinion. The P35 is proven now, the X38 is still in launch.
