analog and digital
Hi Gang
Another stupid question maybe. If a monitor has both type connections on it, digital and analog, are you supposed to have cables connected to both of these or one at a time.? Or does it really matter.? Thanx.........Gunny |

Depends what your set up is.
All you really need is one digital lead from the grpahics card to the digital in the monitor.

One, the other, or both - obviously you can only display one input at a time on the screen, the digital is preferred if there is a digital source available. But having another input connected at the same time won't hurt it.

Analog
Hi
Thanx, I forgot to mention that you have a Video card that has both type connections on it too. Thinking if some thing shows in digital you will see it, and if it is in analog you see that also. Thanx..........Gunny |

No that doesn't matter, it operates in both for everything. You can use whichever you want, I'd just connect up the Digital connection though

Just wanted to add a little personal observation to this conversation. I have 2 identical 19" lcd monitors connected to a common vid card in my main pc. One is connected to the VGA (analog) connector and the other is connected via the DVI (digital) connector. I had it this way with XP on the pc and now I have Vista Ultimate with all the "eye candy" running. I'll be darned if I can see any difference between the two. The idea that "digital is better" must apply to gaming (I don't do any gaming) cuz I sure don't see a difference in any other application.

You will notice a difference if the analog autotune doesn't work too well.
