Building first computer. Need some help.

Hello peeps, being my first post I'd like to say there are some pretty knowledgeable people here. I'm hoping i'll get a little help (any amount of help will do)

I'm trying to build my first computer, but i don't know much about it. I feel itll be an adventure putting it all together, but actually finding the proper parts is being difficult. my max price limit is $10,000 dollars. Because I want to have THE best computer I could possibly make myself.

So far I have:

http://www.xoxide.com/aspire-x-discovery-black.html
Black case, built in fan n stuff.. pretty neat.

http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=336
1tb sata harddrive (maybe getting 4 of these if the case can handle it)

http://www.9xmedia.com/products/x-to...pscreensize=32
monitor, I'm not sure if this will help, in case i need a certain motherboard for it or something

The part thats confusing the heck out of me, is the CPU and motherboard.. I have a very hard time understanding all of the terms that are coming to me in such a short time. If I knew what was top of the line and compatible, that's stopping me from picking out RAM, video cards, sound cards, and everything else important.

Any help at all will be appreciated. I need this to be an intense gaming computer, capable of handling a lot of external hard drives and lots of use. 8gig ram or more would be nice. or however much i could fit.

the most you would need is $3500 tops..
and even that is a bit of overkill..
you could go with a nice SLI rig, toss in a high res monitor(24" or so"
intel Q6700 processor
Evga 8800GTX (in SLI)
2 or 3 gbs of corsair ram (DDR2 800)
maybe 2 x 1TB hard drives
800W power supply (Seasonic, enermax, PC Power and cooling)
Lite on optical drives
windows xp pro or vista (or wait till SP1 of vista comes out)

as for the case...it's more of a personal choice
thermaltake armor or antec 900 would be excellent choices

If you really want the best you would probably want a QX6850 CPU. If you can wait you might want to wait till the next series of graphics cards. Foir motherboard look for X38 chipset based ones. I'm sure someone else here will be able to provide lots more info though.

To spend that kind of money...you need to step wisely. Things are changing so quickly that your investment would be left in the dust because of changes in technology. Don't throw the budget "all in". Take the advice of RazorR and do a top build with the most forward thinking motherboard and begin setting up for a server operation or something that you can build upon. Big changes will be happening with Intel (in particular) that is going to make that kind of premature investment seem foolhardy. $10.000...hell...

Thank you all for the great input. I think ill take liambl's advice and wait until the next series.

Also bd1886, I was only hoping for this particular setup to last me for a couple years. I'm sure much more will be out in those 2 years, so i'm planning on new systems after that. thank you for your input though.

Ummm.... your monitor will cost $9,937.50 which leaves you with only $62.50 to build the computer. I dont think a $62 computer is going to run that monitor. If your are really serious then I would budget for the computer first and see what is left over to spend on the monitor. If you go really hog wild you can spend 3.5 - 4 K on a computer. But to be honest I would shoot for something in the 2 - 2.5 K range and save the rest for quick upgrades to keep up with technology.

I really dont know where to direct you. I would check out sites of major gaming computers and see what they are using in their record setting systems. I would also tend to let someone else build such a system because to really do it justice you probably want it OC'ed to take advantage of all the highest level components. Alot of the best computer parts are not that much faster then the mainstream components, they are the best because they can be pushed even faster and allow for hardcore OC'ing.

sorry, I forgot to include in my original post that the moniter is not added in the price. I have the 10k limit on the box only. As stated in my original post, money isnt an issue for me, I want to buy the best parts available, then do upgrades in the future, I seem to be getting more posts telling me not to spend that kind of money, but it isnt an issue. Thank you for your input though.

You could just buy 2 22" monitors then hook them all up instead of spending a dam 10 thousand on 3 monitors.. 10k for 3 monitors is the biggest rip off ive ever heard.

How can money not be an issue. money is always an issue lol.

But to get a really good PC, try these parts. IF money really isnt that much of an issue

eVGA 8800ULTRA http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130093
P5E3 deluxe X38 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...=P5E3%2bDeluxe
Liteon DVD Burner [Might aswell get Blu Ray >.> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106037
Antec 900 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...pk=antec%2b900
4 of this ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148149
4 of THis hard Drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148278
2 monitors http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824001241
PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139006
Sound Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102005
CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115026

Now this would be a damn top notch computer but costs probably over 4k.
You could get a SLI board instead, get 680i eVGA board if you wanted.

I don't even thinks it's possible to get a tower that costs 10k.... Unless you bought a ton of worthless parts.
