Pissed Yes another Issue on a new build

I just wanted to check with everyone, but I'm building a new computer and I have everything hooked up, it powers up and turns the fans on but doesn't do anything else. I have read a lot of posts with similar problems except that this mother board has a build in video card (ASUS P5B-VM ). I even tried Hal 9000's approach to taking the mobo out of the computer and hooking it up outside the computer, and the same thing happens! Could it just be the mobo that's bad? I've only built one other computer and had no problems so I could use your help.
Thanks

PVB-VM mother board
Intel E6750 2.66 duo core CPU
1 gig DDR2 800 Kingston Ram
Seagate 250gig HDD

Normally it will make beeping noises to notify you of any errors. Could be a dodgy monitor.

That motherboard does not support that processor. Somebody did not do their homework before ordering parts.

WOW, I went into the store and they sold me those... that's what I get for not checking my stuff first! Can you recommend a motherboard that will? Keep in mind it's for my in-laws and they'll basically surf the web and some photo sharing.

An E6750 for websurfing and photo sharing? They sure oversold you. I'd return the processor and get some $$$$$ back and get one of the Pentium dual core E-series. I just ordered a E2180 for a budget build today. Its under 100 bucks. If they won't take the processor back, then you need a P5KPL-VM or a P5K-VM.

Your P5B will support 800 FSB and 1066 FSB dual cores, but not 1333's. That's what the E6750 is. It will take the E2xxx, E4xxx, and E6x00 processors but not the E6x50's. It will also handle the Q6x00 quads.
