Media test failure, check cable. Have OS on HD?

Here's the deal. I copied the entire HD, including the operating system, from my old computer (this one) onto a new HD using a piece of software. I made sure to format the HD to NTFS.

However, when I boot up my PC I get the error "Media test failure, check cable".

I unplugged my DVD+-R drive, and there is no ethernet cable connected.

Any advise you could give me?
Thanks a lot!

PC Specs:
Code:
Intel Quad Core Q6600
BFG 8800GTS Superclocked
WD 250GB SATA-II HD
Evga Nforce 680i SLI Mobo
Lite-on 20x DVD+-R * 2

It's connected. As the motherboard doesn't have onboard graphics and I'm getting an output on my monitor it's definitely not that.

Hmm I thought of checking my new hard drive on this pc to see if it boots up correctly. Might be a dodgy install.

So your BFG 8800GTS Superclocked has the power cable connected and you've doubled checked this?

It's definitely connected. The card has an annoying feature that makes a high-pitched squealing noise if it's not plugged in. I forgot to plug it in earlier today.

You can't just copy a hard drive from a different system onto a new build. The IDE controllers are different and even if it tries to boot it will bluescreen. What exact "piece of software" did you use and what are the specs of the 2 systems?

Wow I wasn't aware of that.. I used the latest version of Norton Ghost, and used the "Clone my Hard Drive" feature.

I guess I'll have to wipe the hard drive and do a clean install then :/

OK, after wiping my hard drive and re-installing it, I get no output to my screen. I get one beep if my DVD drive is connected (so I'm guessing it's that).

I had this problem yesterday, but it magically went away after changing the graphics card position. I have no idea what's going on, will I have to do this all the time? Can I unplug the graphics card, turn on the PC, shut it down, plug the graphics card into the same slot, and then boot up the PC again?

Thanks.
