First Build need insight/opinions

First I feel stupid for posting as seeing that this forum is full of first build posts, but I think I can get the help I need here. Im looing to spend around $1k plus minus a few bucks. I need everything pretty much too. Heres something I put together on newegg and wanted opinions. Anything I should change? Im not a gamer but want to leave room open to do so.

Heres what I have so far...

motherboard
processer
memory
vid card
lcd
hard drive
burner
case

Then i also had to get a copy of windows which Ill go with xp. Now the only things i was curios about is the video card, processer (core 2 duo or quad core?), and the case (ventilation?).....The whole system shipped from newegg is a little over $1k and ill get a $20 rebate. But anything I should change?

Thanks All

I would get a retail lite-on burner instead.

Not sure how good that ram is, try looking at corsair. It should only be probably about $20 more I think.

And I don't think the PSU that comes with that case is good quality. Might want to look at a different one (I think the Sonata II) or even a seperate case and PSU.

I picked that ram because it had good reviews on newegg. The case I was iffy about but so hard to find a plain case that will work but yet still look decent.

Think about it - you can't get a quality 500+ watt PSU by itself for $55, much less one preinstalled in a case. Bite the bullet here and drop the bucks for an Antec Sonata 3. The A-Data ram is okay. Concur, lose the Samsung and get a Lite-On.
