Boot process fails halfway in
Hello,
I just finished assembling a computer from scratch using all new parts save for two PATA hard drives and two cd drives. I'm able to turn it on, access the bios, and beginning booting from a cd, however the boot process fails every time. With knoppix, I see the boot screen, but only a black screen after that. Windows loads all components but I get a BSOD after it says "launching windows", and ubutu gets past the boot screen and to the boot progress bar but never further. I cannot figure out what is going on. Any suggestions? Gigabyte GA_m61p-s3 motherboard with onboard video. AMD 64 X2 +6000 2GB Crucial memory Lite-on cd drive With the linux live cds, I had everything unplugged except for a single cd drive. Thanks |

Try checking the memory with Memtest86. It should be easy, it is included on the Linux live cd.
